Pediatric Specialists of VA - FepBlue

Anonymous
I got a notice today that starting 6/1, pediatric specialists of Virginia will no longer accept FepBlue. We rely heavily on them as there are not other specialists in the area. What can we do? I assume many families are affected by this.

Is this all BC/BS that they are denying? PPO? HMO? Everything?

How were you notified? Mail or email? We have FepBlue and my kid sees specialists at pediatric specialists of VA, but we have not gotten any notice yet. Is it the entire practice or doctor/specialty dependent?

I just received a letter through the mail from BCBS stating they will not pay for any provider after June 1, 2026.

My child has a chronic/progressive disease so this is very upsetting news. I checked the PSV website to see if there was any notification but there is none.

I was rather shocked to read this as their doctors pretty much are the on-call doctors for Inova Children’s hospital where my daughter has been admitted to several times. We had a terrible experience at Children’s National so that is not an option for us.

So this means they will lose thousands of patients. Where will these patients go?

Mail. It looks like the entire practice based on the letter we received.

I just got off the phone with BCBC FEP. I called to request an extension of care as advised in the letter. However, I was told that on the same day they sent out the letters, they were able to come to an agreement so the contract with PSVA is in place without a break in continuity of care. I was told a second letter should go out next week advising of the change.

Thank you so much for the update. I was trying to contact PSVA this morning, but couldn't get anyone on the phone.
