Waitlist movement for SMCS

Has anyone gotten in from the waitlist yet? The first round acceptances were Feb 13 so are other kids getting offers based on declines from the first round? Thanks.

Strange and unsubstantiated, so take it with a grain of salt, but my DC heard from a classmate, who had been in the waitpool for a different criteria-based program, that they got notice, today, of an acceptance. Unless they had the appeals adjudicated early for that program and then considered with others already in the pool, they may not have been following the stated protocol for this first round of openings, which presumably would be the largest due to those declining the initial offer.

I'd expect that last bit to be less the case for SMCS (and maybe RMIB), given the high relative demand, where those accepted may have seen multiple program acceptances but would decline others. I still would hope that any program determining/sending out new acceptances only did so after waitpool additions from the appeals, though.

My son got n acceptance letter today for Global Ecology at Poolsville. He was previously in the Wait Pool (without the number.) He already accepted the invite to Blair so he'll pass this opportunity.

Also I just noticed they added this paragraph at the end. It gives me bad vibes. So beyond 2026-2027 no transportation? Once we are in 6 regions?


For the 2026‐2027 school year, availability of transportation from outside local school feeder patterns to immersion and magnet programs is subject to the approval of the MCPS budget. CENTRAL STOPS ARE BEING PLANNED FOR THIS PROGRAM FOR NEXT YEAR AND WILL BE AVAILABLE IN AUGUST 2026.

Kid got a spot at CAP today (Blair) and will be happily accepting. We know one other family that also got a notice today and many who did not.

Appeals for kids who were rejected initially. The first round results went out today along with any offers. They were expected next week.

My DC accepted SMCS already but got invited to another criteria based program yesterday.
