CODE GREEN - NORMAL OPERATIONS for Tuesday, February 24
We’re Back! …except one school.

Snow came but melted quickly and dried quicker than expected, this was helped by warm temperatures throughout the day on Monday. MCPS crews have been treating surfaces in readiness for an on-time opening tomorrow.

Our crews report that roads and sidewalks are in good condition, and schools are ready to open! So for Tuesday, we are Code Green–Normal Operations for Tuesday, February 24.
All schools and offices are open
Before and after-school childcare programs and Community Use occur as scheduled

There are still several trees and limbs down due to heavy snow. Allow extra travel time on Tuesday, watch for potentially icy sidewalks and parking lots, walk carefully on untreated surfaces, and remind new drivers to go slowly. Please be patient, please be safe.

Clarksburg Elementary School will be closed tomorrow until further notice. Stay tuned for announcements about a potential opening. There are access and power issues on campus due to a large downed tree.

Just got a text.

Clarksburg ES is closed, it sounds like a tree fell on it and there's no power.

Good call.

High schoolers need to be careful driving or walking at dawn because there will be icy patches.

Bad call. 2 hr delay.

Is there liberal leave? Temps are low for AM when the earliest students, staff, bus drivers, buses get going.

I saw this first before I got the text and thought you were manifesting it or something. Which would be fine since it worked!!

Yay!! Good call.

A lot of wet roads are already completely dry, and others have been treated (including my residential street upcounty), which should help prevent re-icing.

Yes, even my dead-end, unimportant sidestreet is plowed and salted already. I'm shocked.

I know this event was a nothingburger compared to the last one, but wonder if all the blowback that the county council received from the last storm response actually made a difference.

Wow--I'm shocked. Where I live roads were clear even Monday morning and the snow melted super fast, but this is MCPS after all.

Glad it's a full day tomorrow.
