Every winter like clockwork, I get a sinus infection, take ABX, and yet it lingers with horrible sinus headaches on my forehead and below my eyes. So much sinus pressure. I have tried everything - nasal rinses (nothing comes out, sorry TMI), breathe-right strips, humidifier.
I am miserable waiting for winter to end. help??! |
| What does your ENT doc say? |
| Make an appointment with an ENT. They have protocol for sinus congestion. If their protocol doesn’t work for you, they have minor procedures that help. |
What are those procedures? |
| Flonase and azelestine twice daily after sinus rinse or saline spray. Takes about a week of doing this daily for the sinus pain to go away and if I stop doing it then the pain comes back. |
| Get sinus surgery to enlarge you turbinates. I got this a few years ago and my constant sinus migraines went away. My constant bacterial infections gone. Life is so much better. I can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner. |
| I’m the pp — try Dr Singh at MFA associates ent at GW for sinus surgery |
| I used to get these, a doc told me to make sure I cleared my nose when I had a cold with pseudoephedrine or Afrin, so the bacteria did not fester. Works like a charm, I haven’t had antibiotics since. I do use Claritin and Flonase occasionally too. |
| Pseudoephedrine (the real Sudafed, which you have to get from the pharmacy counter) helps a ton when I get a sinus headache. Also agree you should see an ENT |
