Where are most spam and scam calls originating from and what public needs to do to get strict laws to end it all? Are these originating locally or from overseas? Is there a need to involve other countries, telephone companies, security agencies etc or is it something federal government can handle on their own?
Anyone could run for office on the platform of making spam calls illegal. They’d win.
The true scams are all from overseas. They have also moved on to unsolicited texting, pretending to be a wrong number and then sucking people into a crypto scam. Look up “pig butchering.” Victims are getting scammed for $100k+ in some cases.
I would be a single issue voter on getting rid of spam calls. I get 5 or more a day on my phone, and probably 3 texts a week. During election season, I get upwards of 3 texts a day and those are from political groups that I actually align with. It’s infuriating. Sending me 3 texts a day doesn’t make me want to vote for you, even though I know I still have to unless I want to vote for someone endorsed by Trump. But it reeeeaaaally makes me not want to.
