| This is a long stretch, hoping they get paid. |
| Unless they are temporary part time staff, yes they are paid. |
But a significant portion are temporary part time. |
| If you are a permanent staff member, yes. If you are TPT, no. Most sped paras are TPT. |
|
They converted TPT paras to permanent para this school year. We have very few (if any) TPT paras left in the county.
Glad to hear they will be paid. |
That's not true. They planned to shift 100-150 from temp to perm, but even assuming they did that, it still leaves an awful lot of temp paras for special education and lunch/recess duty. |
| I was a para in DC when I was younger, between undergrad and grad. Back then, we got paid if the school was closed for an unforeseen reason, like a snowstorm. We did not get paid for Christmas/Spring break unless we reported to an empty school-- yes, we had to do that. For the summer, we would not get paid and had to find other jobs, such as summer schools. |
Well yes. That's why most every private sector company was back at work Monday or Tuesday. And why Giant grocery store was open during the storm last Sunday. No work=no pay. Not everyone gets paid to stay at home until everything is "perfectly safe," 7 days after a storm when it's perfectly sunny outside. |
