Middle and high school course registration deadline

Because of the closure this week, will they extend the deadline to register for next year's classes?

I teach 9th graders and every 9th grader in my HS registered for classes the 2nd week of December. 10th graders did it the following week. Not sure when juniors did it but I'm 90% certain they already did.

Yup just confirmed.

9th graders completed it on 12/9

10th graders on 12/17

11th graders were 1/6

It depends on the school, OP. Please check with your child's counselor. Generally I believe middle school deadlines are later than high school deadlines.

At Bethesda Chevy-Chase high school, for example, the deadline was Jan 10th, so well before the storm.

Isn't it just a Google form to fill out? Why would they need to push it back even at a school where it was supposed to be filled out this week?

You are confusing a lot of issues. My MS kid has a deadline of January 30 for 9th grade registration. Their info session was in the second week of January.

You are welcome to share data that all the MCPS 8th graders are signing up for 9th grade classes in December before info sessions are held, but I think you are wrong.

You are confusing the fact I never once mentioned middle schoolers. I specifically mentioned that I teach 9th graders and then listed the registration dates/deadlines for each of the high school classes at my school. The thread was titled Middle and High School Registration and nowhere in the original post did they make mention it was for an 8th grader. So my information was in no way confused or incorrect.

Eight graders register for ninth grade which you might recognize as high school. It is also a process that they’re more unfamiliar with than your high schoolers who have already been there for a year or more.

The title of this thread says “middle school and high schoolers.” I hope you don’t teach English. Also, as others have pointed out, not every school has the same schedule.

It could be helpful for middle school students to get a few days after they return in-person to finalize classes. Most middle schoolers already had their info sessions.
Sixth and 7th grade students generally have a Feb registration deadline.
