What Is Your 5th Grader Working on in Math and Reading?

Anonymous
Can anyone tell me what the 5th graders are working on in math and reading? I checked the MCPS website but the parent resource guide went to a error message on the school district site.

I am trying to supplement and determine if DC needs a tutor.

Thank you!

I can't believe these kids get to read A Midsummer Night's Dream and my kid spent 6 weeks studying corn in 5th grade. They are so lucky not to have Benchmark anymore.

I teach 5th grade and right now we're finishing a unit in chemical matter. Students are learning how resolution is found from tracking evidence.
In math it depends if they are in compacted or not, easier to check mcps online

PP you responded to. That's amazing. What a great curriculum. A very different experience from Benchmark.

I mean, it's not perfect-- the 6 weeks on Empires in the Middle Ages in early fall was really boring and felt endless for my 4th grader-- but I agree it's way better than Benchmark.
