Can anyone tell me what the 5th graders are working on in math and reading? I checked the MCPS website but the parent resource guide went to a error message on the school district site.
I am trying to supplement and determine if DC needs a tutor. Thank you! |

ELA (I believe the Reformation unit is skipped): https://amplify.com/pdf/uploads/2021/03/CKLA_G5_Scope_and_Sequence.pdf
Math (this is the Texas version but should be similar or identical): https://3454910.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hubfs/3454910/Lindsay/TEXAS/Landing%20Page%20Files/Scope%20and%20Sequence/TEKS%20G5%20SandS.pdf |
Use Khan Academy to guide home learning and progress checking. |
I can't believe these kids get to read A Midsummer Night's Dream and my kid spent 6 weeks studying corn in 5th grade. They are so lucky not to have Benchmark anymore. |

I teach 5th grade and right now we're finishing a unit in chemical matter. Students are learning how resolution is found from tracking evidence.
In math it depends if they are in compacted or not, easier to check mcps online |
DP. Mine kid did a Don Quixote unit before winter break! |
PP you responded to. That's amazing. What a great curriculum. A very different experience from Benchmark. |
I mean, it's not perfect-- the 6 weeks on Empires in the Middle Ages in early fall was really boring and felt endless for my 4th grader-- but I agree it's way better than Benchmark. |
