EA public schools that look at mid-year reports

I'm getting mix information of which schools look at mid-year report. I would assume most private colleges would want a mid-year report sent, but what about publics where students applied EA that will publish results end of Jan through mid February. What about the UCs?

Most, if not all. Even if admitted without, they will want to see them before admission is formalized.

There’s a difference between confirming midyear and final grades AFTER admission has been offered, versus making admission dependent on mid-year grades.

My DC applied to 10 EA schools. They are an “awesomely average” student, at least by typical DCUM standards: 3.5w gpa, 1200 sat but TO most places. Had a rough sophomore year academically with a 3.1, but will have 8 APs at graduation.

They are accepted to Michigan State, Indiana, Loyola MD, and UMW unconditionally so far.

Pitt and Delaware have asked for 1st semester senior year grades before deciding.

Rejected at Fordham and TN, deferred to RD a SC.

Be clear when your asking if your asking about grade reports before or after admission.

This is before admission.

UCs do not consider senior year grades in admission decisions. UCs only use grades from 10th and 11th.

How about for Michigan, Wisconsin, and Maryland?

Our school’s second quarter doesn’t end until Jan 23 and our school’s registrar takes 7-10 days to get the transcripts finalized and sent out.

At this point, would you suggest DC (OOS for all) reach out to these three EA schools to let them know about the late timing? Or just let it ride?

The largest school district in MD won’t have grades until a few days before UMD releases. I expect they are accustomed to schools not having semester grades until after they’ve already made their decisions.

All the information is published on their admission deadline websites. Have you looked? If they don’t mention a mid year report, it’s like not needed. Most EA schools don’t require one, in my experience.

FCPS doesn’t have report cards ready till beginning of February after EA decisions.

Most schools don’t look at senior year grades as part of the decision at all. They just look at senior year course rigor and your gpa through year end junior year.

They just use the final transcript to co firm you didn’t go off the rails.

For the two schools who asked for my kids midyear grades (Pitt and Delaware) I think it’s because it’s EA so there’s enough time to get midyear before March/ April RD decisions come out. Also, they are on the bubble, grade wise, but have good course rigor, so with 3-4 APs the final GPA they would report in the CDS for the admitted students would be in range.

Do not come to a 3rd party for information. If you or your kid is concerned about timing or importance at a specific school, contact their admissions office directly.

A few RD schools have mid year report as part of their checklist.
