| It’s frustrating when so many colleges expect extracurriculars when they are so selective in many large high schools. I know kids who can’t pass tryouts for sports and get rejected from things like robotics or model UN. And what blows my mind is that many of the students who do those things still get denied. It feels you bad to be a superhuman to succeed at the level needed to be competitive for admissions |
| Get a job. Have a hobby. |
| Find opportunities outside the school. Varsity sports doesn’t help college admissions if not recruitable. |

| Kid should be doing what they like/love/passionate about. If nothing, try things. Stick to one or all. Enjoy the activity. |

Make something that shows initiative, exploration outside the classroom, and develops/showcases a passion. Genuine things are always the most important. |
