We've been doing it every 3 months, and they're defintely "dirty" (grey) when I go to change them. It's a 1-hour process involving climbing on ladders and changing 5 different filters on 3 different levels because we have a complicated system. I'm wondering if everyone else changes as often or I should just go to every 6 months.
every 6 months. takes 5 min. simple system, i suppose
I have 1 filter. I do it every month.
Every three months or so. It should not take you an hour.
5 filters. 2 require a ladder as they are ceiling mounted. |
What does it do that normal HVAC doesn’t do? |
Every 3 months. Single filter.
If you’re rich enough to have an HVAC system that has five different filters you can hire a handyman to do shit like that.
Why would any system require 5 different filters? Each filter has different MERV values?
every 2-3 months.
Every three months, sometimes once a month during allergy season
Every 3 months for most rooms except the guest bedroom which is every 6 months. We have a town house with tons of stairs and all the filters require a ladder to access so it’s a pain in the a$$ but we have a dog and young kids so it’s worth it.
Every three months. We have 3 filters, two upstairs and one in the basement. The two upstairs are in the ceiling (because we have an attic HVAC) and I keep a step ladder behind a door upstairs to reach them. It takes 15 minutes total.
6 months for the big system. 3 months for the upstairs system that goes to bedrooms.
We do it monthly, due to pets.
