| I'm looking at these camps for my DD(11) and DS(9). Both fairly independent normal kids, not super sporty but play sports, love to swim and enjoy nature. Both camps seem to have a relatively low-key vibe and offer the 3-4 week length we are looking for. But I'm hesitant to just go off their websites, so would appreciate any recent experiences and feedback. |

Hi,
We sent our kids DD (11) and DS (10) to camp Shohola and Netimus this past summer for 7 weeks and although it was nervewracking, it was one of the best decisions of our lives. Every night during dinner, they still talk about camp and how much they miss it. We are planning to send them again this year. Our experience was very positive with staff and communication. They encouraged us not to call/communicate the first week because the kids need to take it all in. There are plenty of acitivities to choose, specially at Shohola. Siblings meet at least once per week for dinner at either camp. Cultural diversity was important to us and we are glad that our kids reported rich cultural, ethnic and social-economic diversity and our kids made friends from different parts of the world (Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, US) that they still stay in contact with some of them. They enjoyed an electronics free, fun and empowering summer and we are forever grateful. |
| There is a lot of homophobic language tolerated at Shohola I’m afraid. |
That's a pretty loaded comment with no context. Care to share more details? |
| Welp - Netimus is closing effective immediately. My daughter is going to be so bummed. Scrambling now to find an alternative! What’s everyone else doing? |
| We are very disappointed with the closing. We were told refunds went out 2 weeks ago but we have not received one. Has anyone received a refund? |
| Our kids went to Shohola and Netimus in 2021, with great reviews. That summer, my daughter also attended camp Alleghany in WV for one week, which she loved. She has continued there for 3 weeks each summer. That may be an option for your daughters with the recent sad news coming out from Netimus. |
| We have also not seen our refunds yet. |
| We got our refund today. |
