MCCPTA Seeks Your Views on School Chromebook Use The MCCPTA Technology Committee invites all families to share your views regarding use of school-issued Chromebooks! Parents have reached out to us to express their concerns, and we wanted to provide a way for individuals to share their specific concerns, and also collect data and testimonials to share with MCPS and the Board of Education. As the Technology Committee is also considering what recommendations to provide to MCPS on its draft artificial intelligence policy, it is especially important for us to share how technology has been and is being used in the classroom now. Please make sure you share this opportunity to make your voice heard on this important issue. | Mccpta doesn’t care about our views, they just want us to agree with them. |

“Have you ever personally observed children …. using the school Chromebook for non-academic purposes ….when they should be doing school work … in class?
* That’s quite a biased question! Parents aren’t invited to drop in at school and check on Chromebook use! |
| I don’t see the question as biased. I think it’s just asking for feedback on what parents have seen while visiting schools? Personally, I have seen this A LOT as a parent volunteer. Can only speak for our schools (elementary and middle) - but parent volunteers are always needed and appreciated. And it’s really eye-opening to see the screen use at schools and how disruptive it is to the learning environment. |

It's a good opportunity to talk about the issues that MCPS is having in blocking URLs with games and other inappropriate content.
Kids can easily get around the firewalls, and MCPS IT needs to do better. |
