SMAC juniors usually take magnet stats, which leads to AP stat exam. A lot of them take AP Lang and AP foreign language in junior year too. Some choose too knock out one or two more AP exams in chem or bio or physics C through either taking one AP class together with other Blair students, taking a magnet class under the broader subject and self-study, or just completely self-study and directly take tests. I think magnet students rarely take AP research exam, as they usually choose to take two semester independent research and do a full-time summer internship.

Magnet students take Magnet Research, so they can't take AP Research exam which requires a portfolio submission.

According to the magnet letter it also looks like most of them take AP World History.

Students on the non-accelerated calculus track take AP calc exam junior year. Almost everyone takes AP CS A sophomore year, both accelerated track and non.

Why do you write subject line totally different from your actual question, OP?

Do they take AP NSL and APUSH as well?

APUSH is freshman year and I would guess about half of the magnet kids take it. AP Gov is sophomore year and I think almost all magnet kids take it.

Is there an option at Blair to take AP Gov freshman year and APUSH sophomore? Seems weird to have to take the harder course first.

It is definitely weird and no I never heard of an option to swap them but we didn’t try and don’t know anyone who did. Each HS seems to have a different way of doing it.

Many schools do APUSH in 9th (and some in 10th) it because they rely on 8th grade US history to prop the students up in an AP course they aren't ready for
