Public Trump Impeachment Hearing Mega Thread

A soldier involved in an IED attack doesn't have the opportunity to "refuse a Purple Heart." I'm sure everyone in the vehicle was given one as a matter of course - that's how this works. The fact you're trying to suggest Vindman should've refused his is DISGUSTING.

I hope you're a troll and not an American because you are a repulsive human being.

And, you are clueless.

And, you do know that paperwork is required for a Purple Heart? And, no, you don't get one just for being in the vehicle. I was not suggesting that Vindman should have refused his, I am just pointing out that most people do not realize how they are awarded. Clearly, you do not.

Basically, two things are required: that you be in an incident that involves the enemy and that you get medical attention for the injury. The injury does not have to be serious. But, I'm sure you know that.

The policy is a little more detailed about what involves the enemy, etc, but that is pretty much it.
And, most professional soldiers i know would not correct a Congressman in the manner that Vindman did. It wasn't necessary. He goes to work in a civilian suit, he's accustomed to it.

Holy cow. Listen to yourself.

Let's bookmark these posts for when Republicans go back to their usual bashing of Democrats as traitors for not donning a flag pin.

“Here right matters”. Lt. Col Vindman on why he is unafraid to do his duty and tell the truth.

What a contrast to see people like Taylor, Kent, Yovanovitch, Vindman and Williams (honest and patriotic public servants) on the one hand and people like Giuliani, lev parnas and Igor, Sondland and Perry on the other hand.

Yes! We’re all sick of politicians. But these witnesses are public servants and patriots and they make me feel proud of our country.

I'm on team-Vindman here, and I did like that response. But it also reminded me of Col. Jessup who was the bad guy. ("I would appreciate it if you would address me as "Colonel" or "Sir." I believe I've earned it.")

You don't know many Army colonels. I think every last one of them I know would've responded the same way as Vindman.

This is true. I don't.

Well. I do and they would not have corrected a Congressman in that manner. And, FWIW, among them is at least one who had "light wounds" as Vindman did and refused to get Purple Heart when he could have. Why, because he understood the sacrifice of so many who had serious injuries.

People do not understand that someone like a double amputee gets the same Purple Heart as someone with "light wounds" who is able to continue working the same day.

What medal would Trump have received? Oh yeah, that’s right, he NEVER served due to his poor tender tootsies. LTC Vindman is a Patriot/loyal American.

In the 2016 campaign at a rally in Virginia, a veteran and supporter gave Trump his own Purple Heart. Trump thanked him, held it up, and said he’d always wanted a Purple Heart! What a fool. He had no idea why one even receives that particular medal.

I had forgotten that. You're right, Trump does have a Purple Heart medal.

+1. And regarding your suit remark, it is absolutely appropriate for Vindman to be in his dress uniform. That is customary for active duty when testifying before Congress. I know because I asked my sister who is NSA currently detailed to the Pentagon when Vindman testifies earlier. She has testified before herself and said that officers always wear dress uniforms in this situation.
