Summer online Drivers Education?

Anonymous
Do kids who are rising 10th graders have other summer options outside online fcps pe to complete drivers ed? Virtual Va has online PE, but no drivers ed component. How do those kids complete drivers ed?

That's what my son did last summer. It was all online modules, except for the test at the end.

VADETs. It starts every month and goes for 3-4 months. It is self paced but with due dates to keep you on track to finish. There is a final exam that you have to have proctored by an "approved" person--we did in in the Chantilly Library with my friend watching (she had a part time job at George Mason so had an .edu email address that was deemed acceptable). My daughter feels she learned a lot more than her friends at school, but how would she really know since didn't take that one.

PP here--my daughter did this because she is old for her grade and was eligible for her permit as a freshman. She did self study for the permit first and then sign up for the class, started it in May of her freshman year and finished maybe early July.

We went with I drive smart because we didn’t want the hassle of having to find the place and proctor. It’s not that hard but one more thing in our busy lives to manage. I’m a teacher and have done this for students after school. Not all teachers will say yes to proctoring this test and I did have to coordinate with the person to get it to start, since it didn’t always right away.
