Have to get to Norwalk, CT

Anonymous
I have to be in Norwalk for a 10am meeting on a random Monday in January. I cannot leave until 3 pm at the earliest on Sunday and would leave by 3ish on the meeting day. I am not familiar with that area. I booked a hotel in Norwalk but it is a 10 minute drive from my meeting.
Choices: Fly into Laguardia and rent a car (very cheap flights available). Fly into Hartford and rent a car (not cheap so not really an option). Amtrak to Stamford and rent a car on Turo since there is no other convenient way to get a car at that hour in Stamford CT. Drive (really don't want to b/c I have to drive to NYC the next month but could be an option).

Thoughts? Thank you!!

Norwalkto Stamford is about 15 minutes driving and there are also metro north trains from Norwalk to grand central that take around 50 mins. If I was you I’d fly to LaGuardia and get an Uber. It is so stressful driving in/out of LaGuardia. Or, train to stamford and get a Uber or taxi to Norwalk. The Norwalk Inn is a great hotel on the main road, Graybarns (formerly silvermine tavern) is in a woodsy part of town. You can rent a car in Norwalk or just get Ubers. Check out the SoNo collection, Lockwood Mathews mansion, maritime aquarium if you have free time.

Fly to Westchester and rent a car

I'd take the Amtrak to Stamford and then Uber. If you can charge it to work, take the train.

This. It’s a short drive from HPN to Norwalk.

if you are flying I would fly into New Haven or other airport closer than Hartford.

This. Traffic around this area is horrible in the morning. You should go up the day before and spend the night in Norwalk. Get off at Stamford and take a Lyft to Norwalk. Don’t bother with LGA and going
into NYC.

Amtrak to Stamford, from there either Metro-North or Uber to hotel. Very easy to get Ubers/Cabs in the densest parts of Fairfield County.

Where is your meeting? If it's in the central part of town you might rebook somewhere walkable to it.

It is much better to be in CT the night before and not rush, traffic in that part of the country is horrid. I would probably Amtrak it to Stamford, stay at a hotel near the train station, and then Uber it to Norwalk or take the Metro North towards New Haven to Norwalk and then Uber it. I used to live near here so this is the best option.

100% this. It's very easy and so much less stressful than flying + renting car + driving in NYC area.

Another CT native- agree with this. If you want to get in early and enjoy your evening, uber to dinner at the Whelk in Westport.

Definitely Amtrak to Stamford the Sunday night, then uber to work meeting and back. Then Amtrak back.

I’ve done this drive to CT a million times, so it doesn’t bother me anymore. But if you don’t like to drive, take the train to Stamford. No way would I deal with a flight for this.

Agree with Amtrak to Stamford + Uber to Norwalk. Would probably spend Sunday night in Norwalk given how bad traffic is on the corridor in the mornings, even for a short distance.
