| Middle school VP that was here for a short stint last year left, then we got a new VP this year. One of the others has only been there a year or two. New principal as of last year. Just had counselor leave abruptly (as in gave two days retirement notice). Now we are getting another new VP in December. Is this normal? It feels chaotic. |
Normal or normal for poorly run FCPS? |
| Chaos is the new normal in education |
When admin changes there is always change in teachers, counselors, and other admin. So, yes, this is normal. It’s virtually impossible to retire with FCPS with 2 days notice. There is a notification window that is months prior to retirement. |
Context always matters. Are people retiring or leaving FCPS? Are they getting promoted and/or moving into vacancies as part of the normal and expected career progression? |
That is usually true. However, if this is the school I suspect it is, a counselor retiring on a random day in November feels a bit off. Almost like they were asked to leave or quit in very short order for a specific reason. |
OP- retiring and moving on mid year. Multiple times. This isn’t end of school year type situation. |
| Just tell everyone the school, OP. This is about Carson. The counselor retirement was weird. I think Assistant Principals come and go, and that's not unusual. The Principal seems like a good guy, but a lot of the Carson community is racist, so they just don't like him. |
I would not classify the community as racist. I would classify the community as educational elitists/snobs that don’t want their school run by underqualified admin without strong academic backgrounds teaching math and science. |
The community absolutely loved Mr. Stokkes from a few years ago. They were not racist then. |
