| I am starting to get nervous. There is zero snowpack out there. I just don't want to spend thousands of dollars to ski on man-made snow. Anyone else getting nervous? |
| We were supposed to go to Utah over the holidays. We changed our plans about 2 weeks ago to go to Canada. We are really happy we did. |
| It should be fine by then. It's still November. But yes, even Colorado can be sketchy before the New Year, especially places like Crested Butte. |
| Just because they’ve had boom years the past few doesn’t mean you can assume there will always be snow in CO for New Year’s. That said, they did a get storm today that helped. |
| Colorado doesn't even have man made snow in many places. |
Depends. Last two years it dumped in November in Crested Butte. |
| Stick to Maine. |
|
Snowpack is snowpack. Doesn't matter if it fell from the sky or a gun.
No way to tell if you'll have freshies or not in a month. |
|
Why in the world did you plan to go to CO before mid January?
We have a place in Breakenridge, we don't go for skiing til February. |
| Last year at winter break we had some really good snow in Colorado. I’ve been going between Christmas and New Years for over 30 years. Some years are better than others, but it still beats any skiing on the east coast. I do agree with PPs, that late Jan into Feb are the best ski conditions. |
We also have a place in Breckenridge and it’s awesome at Christmas!! No one shows up until the 26th and seriously we seem to have great snow every year. Sometimes it doesn’t dump until the week before- it never fails to dump! |
| Where are you going? Just had an email that Breck got six inches in the last two days. |
I'm not the OP but for some people Xmas is the only time the family can ski together. |
