Rita Montoya is seeking two amendments for the CIP vote tomorrow.

| I have a feeling she will be standing alone and none of her colleagues will have the guts to back her amendments. I applaud her courage though. |
I do too. Takes guts to buck the superintendent in this way. He doesn't like to be bucked. |

Both of these things seem common sense to me:
- Not assuming the closure of a MS and an ES when that hasn’t been voted on - Not funding construction of 2 ESs with declining enrollment and a pending boundary study |
Which is precisely why Dr. Taylor and Essie will be against them. |
| Yeah Montoya!!!! |
| It seems to me that Burning Tree ES is another unnecessary capital project. There's enough space in the other schools in the Whitman cluster to reallocate those students. |
The intent is common sense. The actual wording of the amendments actually creates some challenges for the way the CIP is structured. |
| Montoya has her flaws but it takes guts to challenge MCPS this way and I think everyone who cares about BOE independence (regardless of your opinion on this specific change) should find ways to thank and celebrate her for this (at minimum send her an email with "Thank you for the amendments" or "Thank you for your independence" or something like that in the subject line.) |
So you agree with the specific merits of what she is trying to do? |

| She is passive aggressive and rude- she speaks out of turn and eye rolls. It’s so uncomfortable if you’ve been at these board meetings to watch. |
At least she’s trying. Maybe she acts that way because of what is going on. |
+1. How can you not roll your eyes during these meetings, good grief. |
