End of public schools?

While we discuss which school is going to get renovated first, which reading curriculum should be adopted, why kids are reading graphic novels. Etc. Help your "public" schools while you can.

Public schools existed long before the Department of Education was created and can certainly survive without it. While I am very worried about the impact of dismantling the Department of Education on certain students, especially those with disabilities and those from families with lower incomes, I don't think anyone can argue the Department of Education has been especially effective. Look at the trend in student math and literacy proficiency across the US. It is appalling.

I am a strong supporter of the Department of Ed but it is still ridiculous to say that getting rid of it means getting rid of public education. That's just nonsense.
