“We’re retired”

I’ve heard this from three different families in my kid’s 2nd grade class. And these are young parents in their 30s, not young moms with some old dude on his second set of kids.

Pretty crazy.

The money in this area is no joke.

So is the lack of money. I guess they’re on the affluent side of the K shaped economy.

Be careful, sometimes that’s what people involved in sketchy MLM or crypto-type schemes say in order to get you “hooked” into asking about their lives.

So you're rich and surprised to be living among possibly richer people? I haven't met any retired parents in their 30s in my kid's school!

+1. Reminds me of my SIL. Her family took a very expensive vacation and she was SHOCKED that some kids in her kids class had already been there.

How dare they be as affluent as she was!

Meh, my dh is retired from the military and our youngest is in middle school. We had kids late. It happens.

We have a parent like that. He's 45. Had a business early on and it was survival and he sold it and invested $.

Crypto. Sold several properties and bought crypto and individual stocks in 2020.
An inheritance in coming in few years. It sits in estate account right now. We are not big spenders.
Already worked nearly 30 years.
