Looking for Virginia Attorney & Financial Planner to Assist with Special Needs Young Adult Issues

Anonymous
Our oldest recently turned 18, and we are behind the curve in getting either power-of-attorney or supported decision-making documents in place. They are high-functioning autistic/ADHD and, as of right now, unlikely to be successful in college. They will be living with us for the foreseeable future. We want them to have an appropriate level of personal agency but do not want them to sign a contract or something without fully understanding the ramifications. We would also like to establish a special needs trust for them.

In addition, we need some assistance figuring out what to do with the child's 529, once we fully establish they will not attend college. It looks like we can roll it into an ABLE 529 and/or a Roth IRA, but I'd like to talk to a financial professional who specializes in special needs matters about our options both for existing money and our estate.

If anyone has recommendations for either a SN attorney OR a SN financial planner based in Virginia, can you share their info and your experiences with them?

Thank you!
