Netflix with Ads — quality and topic of ads

Anonymous
So we are looking to save money and am looking at switching to Netflix with ad version since it’s so much cheaper.

But I worry — we see ads on YouTune and Tubi (a second tier service that often has classic movies that other services don’t), and the ads are AWFUL. Sketchy supplements, HIMS and HERS, just lots of weird health and weight loss products like micro dose GLP etc.

What about Netflix, is it more national brand commercials like you had on broadcast: coffee, cereal, and cars? Or is it the same Wild West of weird commercials I probably want my kids to avoid.

So everyone here pays for standard, I guess not surprising!

I have ads, and they are more national, well known brands than with YouTube. Think deodorants or coffee brands

I have ads, but they aren't so bad and if the show or movie is an actual Netflix show/movie, the ads seem to be whatever is advertised in that show. For example, for Nobody wants this, the ads were for Dunkin and L'Oreal which were also prominently (and annoyingly) placed in the actual show.

I had to cancel hulu because the ads were so frequent and so bad, ED and STD supplements all the way and kind of creepy also, exactly like OP is describing, I could have writen that original post. That's why I am paying for netflix with no ads but Dunkin and Loreal i could take, as long as its not every 20 seconds.

I haven’t seen any questionable ads on Netflix. I’ll try and pay attention to which specific ads we get, but they’re not sketchy or creepy.

I cannot believe how much we spend each month to watch tv with ads. It is so annoying. On top of Hulu, Peacock, etc, DH keeps cable for sports. Our family needs some sort of intervention to lower our viewing costs. And we don’t even watch that much tv! Everyone just seems to have their own favorite.

Yeah if you keep cable it’s a terrible deal.

Yeah I wonder why Disney lets Hulu ads be such terrible things. I assume Disney with ads is better?

Just avoid Netflix alltogether. It's garbage.
