It looks like we're down to 2 this year. Which I'm grateful for but I'm wondering what others are experiencing.
I keep telling myself that next year I'll host a large party but it makes me so nervous to think about hosting and our house is small. I stick to dinner parties throughout the year. I find that the holiday party thing is really dependent on whether or not you know entertainers. Most of our friends are not people who host 20-100 people outside of weddings. |
| None. I haven't been to any in almost two decades. |
| We host two (one is small) and, so far, have been invited to three. |
|
Prior to COVID, we hosted a large neighborhood party. It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.
We'll probably host a much smaller gathering with close friends - we've done that the last couple of years in between Christmas and New Years. Other than that, none. |
| We host one small party and are usually invited to 1-2 that are also small (less than 20 people). Most of our good friends do not host at all for anything. |
| 1, my neighbor’s. We have never hosted a holiday party. |
| 1, ours. We host a big holiday party every year with about 30-35 people (mix of adults and kids). Last year when we were re-doing our basement another friend hosted instead - it has become a tradition we would miss- but usually we do most of the hosting year-round (and enjoy hosting, so it works). |
| Sometimes as many as one, but a lot of years zero including work or family. |
| One cookie exchange and one dinner so 2 total. I’m ok with it. |
+1 We used to host a big neighborhood holiday party pre-COVID. It was so much fun, but we moved from that neighborhood since then and haven’t done it on our new block. We do host a few families for a small gathering around Thanksgiving and will likely go to one party at another family’s house closer to Christmas. |
| It also feels like there is one fewer weekend in the mix this year - 12/1 is still Thanksgiving weekend and by 12/20, school is out and people are traveling for winter break. So maybe fewer parties as a result. |
| I’m throwing one, but that’s the only one I know of! |
| We have no family in the area. We go to about 3 work related ones. I like them. |
| Usually none. We had some neighbors that used to have an “eggnog party” but they got older and stopped doing it. |
| Thank God! Invited to many, many parties. I have been undergoing chemo, surgeries, more chemo, radiation etc, etc, BUT, my friends keep inviting me to parties. If I am not too ill, I go. Sept, Oct, Nov has been crazy - 2-3 parties per week. This week no parties but eating out. |
