Competitive Irish Dance Question

Anonymous
My dancer is new to the feis world (CLRG). She has been an advanced beginner for two months and placed 2nd in one of her dances at a recent feis (15 competitors). She has another feis coming up next month. My google search makes it look like she technically should be registered as novice for the dance she placed in, but other sources state to keep her registered at Advanced Beginner until she has completed a full year of being an AB. Anyone on this board happen to know firsthand how this works?

The general rule is to move up to novice if you get a 1,2 or 3 in AB for a dance. If your kid is placing consistently at that level than they should be moving up. That said, you need to ask your dance teacher for guidance. Different schools may have slight variations and the rules have some level of ambiguity.
