| My DC just finished her HYP interview over zoom, slightly under 30min. Is that a bad sign? |
| It’s a worse sign it was a single interview for 3 different schools. |
| My DC is interviewing later this week and they said to block 30-40 minutes so seems accurate |
|
I don't know about HYP but have been routinely told by MIT alums that none of the candidates that they've ever liked were accepted. So not sure that alum interviews matter at all.
Fwiw my application to MIT noted strong alum eval support but my interviewer was a famous alum so might have been different too. |
| it doesn't matter. it's a screening step for crazies. 99% of kids it doesn't matter |
| Yale? They use it. |
Did Yale interview the crazy girl that faked being from North Dakota? How did they miss her crazy? |
| Thousands of applications. You expected more? |
I think she fooled everyone, to be fair. |
To be fair she was a manipulator which is a persona that performs well. I think the PP means crazy as in introverted and might off themselves from the pressure. |
| A couple of years ago…DC’s interview at H was 30 minutes. Was admitted and interview made a difference. Same at another HYPSM — admitted but interview does not really count for it. Meanwhile another kid I know had a 90 minute interview for H and was rejected. Good luck! |
| Side question -- when a student writes a thank you note, do the interviewers ever respond back to acknowledge? Something as simple as "it was nice to meet you, and good luck." |
Yes. Sometimes. |
Is this still a thing? What do you say in your Thank You note? |
How do you know that the interview made a difference at Harvard (or did not at a different HYPSM)? |
