AI is sinking jobs so fast

Anonymous
So how is anyone supposed to get their foot in the door anywhere anymore, build for a future and have some sort of stability ? This is a crisis. Start voting for people in government who will regulate this so that we can have a chance at making a decent living without the shadow of AI taking over everything.

Government regulations are NEVER the answer.

As Elon has said, as A.I. and robotics take over more jobs, new jobs will be created, and also UBI will be a thing.

Just try to get ahead of the curve and realize that many desk-jobs and white collar jobs will be taken first by A.I., leaving mostly labor jobs.

It's not AI. It's the entire economy. It is very hollow at the moment - there is so much corporate consolidation that there are very few opportunities. There is no momentum in the economy - the only thing people are investing in is AI and that is just passing imaginary money between companies.

AI can’t take anyone’s job. Have you ever used AI? I love AI but it can’t do my job or any job that I know of. Companies are laying off people to boost their profits and using AI as a fancy excuse.

That's a good description of the entire world economy, banking system, stock market, fiat currency, etc.

Very wrong (consider why you are able to drink your tap water- regulations!) but in this case AI is not the one taking the jobs so regulating it is not going to solve that problem.

This.

I'm dealing with all kinds of IT projects right now that AI can't do.

Most of my interactions with AI work product right now are pretty bad. Except for things I would not pay for.

I’m not convinced but so far I’ve only used AI to revise a PowerPoint and to find information on the internet. When I call an 800 number I need to speak to someone and get frustrated with the AI bot.

In reality I think companies have figured out they can get rid of people and force existing employees to work harder or more, and they overhired during 2021-2023. Last this admin is creating uncertainty and companies are reluctant to hire.

In just the last 5 min I have found 2 A.I. posts on this site. (Not yours, saying other user's posts, but it's being used a lot.)

You have the mindset of learned helplessness. It's probably a big part of any difficulty you have in your life.

Can you identify any incorrect points I made or are you only capable of unrelated ad hominem?

Why not work on yourself instead? Why so focused on others? That could also be part of the problem.

Another ad hominem- what does that have to do with AI?

Prove it!

I call BS! You like to create drama.

Find a need that’s not being filled, and set about filling it. Start a business. That’s what you need to do, not beg the government to save some make-work job for you by putting its boot in the neck of innovation

Let us ban Internet and Mobile phones. We can go back to enjoy high wages and lots of jobs.

Stay on topic then? You seem to be distracted easily. That's a sign of A.I. in of itself, as too much info at once creates conflicting points in the analysis of the data.

AI regulation is not going to keep companies from layoffs because AI is not causing the layoffs. Do you disagree?
