dcps transfers for bullying or asd kid

Anonymous
We would like to transfer our freshmen to a non boundary school with the same niche program. He is being bullied at his current school and we have documentation. Does anyone know the process for this?

By niche program, do you mean self contained classroom? If so, talk to your IEP team. Dcps has unilateral say over location of services, but there's a central office team who can consider these requests, especially if you have the support of your current school. Also ask for a safety plan to protect your child while you work through the transfer.

Thank you. This is what I had found online: https://dcps.dc.gov/service/non-traditional-and-student-placement-transfers.

That link doesn't work. Is it a discussion about safety transfers? The bar is very high -- think serious assault or similar.
