What start time so all that food including dessert can be comfortably consumed?
Sit down to eat around 3. DW usually works the night before so that gives her time to take a nap before my sister and family get to the house around 1. My MIL and BIL stay with us the night before. I take care of 90% of the food for Thanksgiving so it works out well.
I used to put it out at dinnertime, but lately I've moved it closer to lunchtime so that people have time to move around and start burning off the calories in the evening.
4ish. My in laws are the opposite of prompt so we can't do a time certain, but DH cooks everything except the pie so I have no anxiety about it. (Christmas is my meal and I always tell them to come about 90 minutes before I time everything out - can lead to a different set of stresses when people are asking what they can do to help and the answer is "go sit down somewhere with a glass of wine!")
We start at 4.
We are starting at 2 this year to accommodate some guests who are first responders and will be working that evening.
|
Brunch around 9:30-10.
Dinner around 2:30. Walk Dessert around 4-5. |
Appetizers around 4
Light lunch and appetizers, then dinner at 4. Clean up, take a walk, dessert around 7.
Dinner at 4 at the earliest. I can’t stand “dinner” during broad daylight.
We have a late lunch because half the family won’t get in until about 1:00, and still more family and friends won’t get in until after 5:00, so dinner is not until 6:00. If we’re lucky.
2 pm
To us, it's dinner. So no earlier than 6pm.
1:30 ish.
2ish
