Indian under eyes

Anonymous
My 17 year is half Indian and she is complaining about very visible under eye circles.
Any tips from fellow south Asians?

If anyone has better tips I would love to hear them! Unfortunately I’ve lived with them my entire life and the best solution I’ve found is makeup. She needs a color corrector and concealer that works for her. Mine is NARS.

I’ve looked into filler, but my (Indian) derm said it would plump up my undereyes without really addressing the darkness/pigmentation, which makes sense. I didn’t do it because I worried it would look worse.

Thank you. I will look for a color corrector for her.

Plenty of YouTube videos. She probably needs a red based concealer, Benefit is a good brand, and more than she thinks. She will also need a foundation to blend it all

The VP's wife can't/doesn't manage to do it so it can be a challenge to get right

She could learn to accept herself for who she is what she looks like.

Check out the Kulfi line of concealers. It was started by South Asians and they have a good variety of shades. I don’t need a color corrector when I use mine and it works well for the under eyes as well as scars/areas of redness elsewhere on the face.

Work on self acceptance. That area will not change.

Anyways, Try a good concealer. MAC and Gucci have great ones.

Concealer for now. FWIW my under eye darkness is finally lightening in my 50s, right in time for the eyebags arrival.

Thanks for the tips.
Of course we are having lots of conversations about self acceptance but I don’t know about you but at 17 I was no champion of feeling good about my looks… and at 50 it still requires work some days 😂
Thankfully it is only look!

Red or peach-based color corrector, followed by foundation (or concealer) in a shade that matches the rest of her face. She may need to play around with it, because you don't want it to get too cakey and heavy looking (especially if she's in her teens/early 20s when she should be showcasing her youthful skin).

-Full Indian that was born with dark circles.

I'm Indian with an Indian mom, neither with dark circles. Make sure she is moisturizing there (I use Keihls avocado eye cream every day) and drinking LOTs of water. This is usually a hydration issue.

Good for you, but for many of us it’s genetic.

A lot of this is genetic. Hydration helps, but I wasn't joking that I was born with dark circles. You can see it in pictures of me as a toddler.

What does this have to do with being Indian OP? Why don’t you just say she has eye circles. It’s genetic for many people, not an Indian thing. Geez.

The Indian part is helpful because often times the concealers that work for white folks do not have the same effect on our skin tones without some prior color correction. Geez.
