Bullis selectiveness?

How difficult is it for a 3rd grader to get into Bullis? It says IQ testing is optional, but maybe it helps give a student an edge if they have above average scores? We have moved around quite a bit and I’m not sure teacher recommendations will have a lot of substance.

I think Bullis is moderately selective. It has a mix of bright kids, average, and those who struggle.

We are looking at third too. They are full in second and grow by a section - 16 kids - in third. I'm hopeful, but I don't think it's a slam dunk.

Compared to other schools in the DMV, not very selective. If you have the cash, not selective at all.

This is nowhere near as true as it used to be. Back in my Bullis days, the admissions exam was that they put your folks in a room with a check and a pen and if they figured out what to do, you were admitted.

Bullis has gotten VERY selective lately! Especially for higher grades. It certainly isn’t what it used to be.

This. Good luck getting into 9th grade....I'm very nervous for my son. We're at Norwood right now and Bullis is our top choice. Fingers crossed.

It’s gotten harder but it’s not nearly as hard as many other primates. If you’re full pay in 3rd and your kid is not terribly behaved you’ll get in.

I'm curious how people can speak with such certainty. Their new Lower School is the best in the entire area - I know because I've toured them all in the last three months. And they are full in second. Yes, they add a section in third, but how do people know how many applications there are and what the impact of the new building will be? I'm guessing there are many more than 16 applications for third, unfortunately.

I think what you're saying is that their new Lower School building is the best in the area, and I don't doubt that's true. But the important thing is not the physical space, it's the teaching and learning that happens there.

I think what you're saying is that their new Lower School building is the best in the area, and I don't doubt that's true. But the important thing is not the physical space, it's the teaching and learning that happens there.

Build it and they will come.
