| Question for parents of current juniors, our child visited Virginia Tech as a sophomore. We also visited several other colleges in the state and out of state. We’re getting weekly emails and several physical mailings from all the other colleges except Virginia Tech. We’re wondering if this is normal for them or if somehow they didn’t get registered as officially attending the visit/tour somehow? |
| Do you remember if you officially registered for the tour? You might want to call admissions and ask. |

Be advised VT doesn’t sent much outreach because they don’t need to, you’ll apply regardless. You’re welcome |
| Thanks, this is helpful. Yes officially signed up because we checked in and received a name tag lanyard etc. we were hoping it was a case that they just don’t do much outreach, which, as an alumni, I appreciate the cost savings with the printed materials, but it seemed funny that there were some more “prestigious“ colleges who are reaching out more often. I will have her check her online profile, thanks again |
| I have a kid at Tech and another one who has applied this year. We have never once gotten anything as snail mail and I believe we have only received one or two emails prior to being accepted |
The more prestigious colleges may be trying to game their ranking by driving down acceptance rates (increase apps wout increases in spots) Frankly, I don’t think VT wants more applications. Any person I’ve interacted with from admissions makes it sound like they are overwhelmed & have plenty of options to fill their class. |
