14 year old girl beginner

We just moved to the area and my daughter is interested in learning to play lacrosse. Does anyone have any recs for Winter programs? If not Winter, just good overall programs that I can reach out to in the Spring? She's just looking to learn and enjoy the sport, we recognize that she's starting "late" in terms of really advancing or playing for school! Thank you for any advice.

See what the Rec League is in your area and sign her up for that in Spring. Its where all girls start. Usually the practices will be close.

Not from Bethesda but Im sure someone here can help with recs for skills clinics etc over winter.

There aren't a lot of indoor lacrosse options so you have to be okay with outdoor freezing lacrosse. You could see if any local college girls are back in town over their winter break to do a few lessons also.

What high school does she/will she attend? That's a great place to start. They will often have off-season workouts and maybe play in a box league or something.

There are lots of providers of coaching who have indoor facilities on the Maryland side. I would look at an introductory session with a group like Healthy Baller, which does lessons in Rockville. Can assess and make recommendations on skills to work on.

Easiest thing to do is get a stick and start playing catch--just need a stick, ball, and a wall or rebounder. The more stick time the better.

As PP said, if it's just beginner basics, go hit the wall everyday with both hands, add ground balls. If your DD is athletic, these might be enough for JV team.

Check out Shooting Stars Lacrosse run through Howard County Parks. They have a Winter Indoor Clinic.
