| Is AP Chem a single or double period class? |
| Double, like AP Bio. |
| thx |
| My kid had it as a single period at Blair. There were no labs. I questioned this but it was the best fit for her schedule. She got a 4 on the exam so I guess it was ok. |
| My DD was explaining that the content of AP Chem is more like 1.5 class periods. |
| Northwood has AP Chem as a single period |
| WJ has it as a double period. |
| Question — if it’s a double period does it count double for GPA purposes? |
Yes it does |
How can that be if it’s just one credit and periods vary by school? |
| Why does the same material get covered in different amounts of time depending on the school? |
Interesting. I wasn't aware that schools would give credit for it without it including a lab component. |
Some colleges will only give credit for the lecture component. Some will give credit for both. Some colleges will only give lab credit if the student has a lab notebook to submit to the college for approval. |
WJ does labs |
Depends on what the school actually covers in Honors Chem. RM has single period AP because 10th grade Honors Chem covers more than the bare bones county curriculum so that kids are prepared for either AP or IB chem. |
