My newly turned 9 year old daughter has a size 8 women's feet! She is only 1/2 size smaller than me. Is the old adage true - kids will grow into their feet and end up being tall if their feet are tall?
|
| That is huge for a 9 yr old. My just turned 9 yr old has bigger feet than most of her friends and wears a kids 3.5-4, probably equivalent to women’s size. 5. |
Op - I also have a 5 year old boy who is in a kids size 2. Maybe my kids just have big feet? I wear a 8.5 and my husband wears an 11. |
| My 9yo wears a 2.5. I also have 5yo who wears the same size and my 7yo still wears a size 1. My 12yo also wore a 2.5 at 9 and is now a 5-5.5. All girls. |

There must be a lot of variation. My SIL and I are both 5’7” but her feet are size 7 and mine are 9.5.
For your 9 year old to have such big feet though, I would wonder if she’s in or about to enter puberty? That really is huge for a 9 year old! My 11 year old boy has slightly bigger feet than most of his friends and he’s a 6.5 which is a women’s 7.5. |
OP - no signs of puberty yet. She has an older sister and she hasn't had any signs of puberty yet either (11 years old). Maybe she is going to go through a growth spurt soon? |
That's unusual. Whats her current height/weight? |
Op - she is 4’6” and 73 pounds. |
| 3 |
Op - I will also say there must be some height/largeness that runs in our family. My son is 5 and weighs 58 pounds and is around 48” tall. |
|
It also depends on shoes style and brand. Mine wears anywhere from a 3.5 (soccer cleats) to 5.5 (Nike sneakers).
|
If that's the case, then her shoe size is okay. |
Also, size 8 women is only size 6 kids. So it matches up with the height genes of the family. Nothing to worry about. |
OP - thanks! I was pretty sure I was going to end up with Big Foot for a kid! DH is only 5'10" and I am 5'7" so we didn't really think our kids would be super tall but so far 2 of them have surprised us. |
NP, but my 9 in 2 months daughter just moved up to a Big Kids size 4 (which is apparently women's 5.5, which, whoa). She's the same height and weight as OPs daughter. I always know a growth spurt is coming when she starts eating measurably more food. |
