How to block a kid's phone during class

Does anyone have advice on how to do this? It's an iPhone on Verizon. We tried the Verizon Family app but it doesn't seem to work.

Add kid to your Apple family with parental controls, then set “downtime” for school hours.

Thanks! We'll try that.

You can do Apple controls but there are ways to get around them including the school WiFi.

Is there any way to do it that doesn't have easy work-arounds?

The Apple controls didn't work at all. Of course we could take the phone away but I'd love to find some middle ground.

There doesn't seem to be. I took my sons's phone away for a month. Gave it back with rules which are still followed unevenly. But, my husband won't back me. I wish I wasn't parenting in the time of screens.

Us too. I don’t mind screens but it doesn’t help when teachers require programs that use outside email and clubs and sports only o schedules and changes via social media. The worst are the teachers who use the private chats where parents are not allowed.

Just suspend their phone service on the Verizon app

How do they get around their phone being on downtime? This works for us. Everything is locked except calling or texting us.

Turn on parental controls to block installing of new apps. Delete the apps causing the issues.

Tmobile only allows it twice but you can just cut the internet service.

Wifi in the house, at school...we have it all locked. Instagram allows for a bypass and kids can remove the control.
