Afternoon wedding in one city, evening black tie optional reception in another city. Not really enough time to change in between.
Is there a single option that won’t look dowdy at the reception without looking out of place in the house of worship? Normal weight, but short waisted and a bit of a pear. |
| Is there a bus? Or is everyone driving? How far is it? |
| I’d just look out of place in the house of worship. |

How about something like this? You could bling up your accessories for the evening if you wanted to.

Same Even if there is a bus taking people from wedding site to reception, I'd just dress for the reception. |
| Is the evening reception related to the afternoon wedding or an entirely separate event? |
| We already did this for 18 pages last week… |
I’m miss that. I’m not in this forum a lot. Thanks! |
Everyone is driving except the wedding party. It’s almost two hours by my calculation, but our hotel is another 30 min in the opposite direction so about three hours if we want to change. |
Yes. Wedding at 4, reception at 7:30. |
Thanks. I will consider this. |
If you will consider this, then you're in for a real treat with the other thread! |

Dress for the reception, and add a shawl / jacket / other shoulder covering for the ceremony.
Also wear more understated earrings for the ceremony, and have the blingy stuff stashed in your purse to change out for the reception. If you really want, you could even have a different pair of shoes in the car. You can make the same dress look entirely different with accessories. |
Dress is very pretty and love the color- but that back is really bare- like you have to be very thin/very young with a flawless back to wear dress properly. Dress would probably have triple the sales with a more coveree back. |
