My doctor prescribed me boric acid to get rid of a supposed yeast infection (I was not having symptoms, this was discovered incidentally). I feel like my vagina is on fire, so uncomfortable! As I was up half the night with this, I was reading multiple posts of people praising this treatment…unsure why my experience was so different.
Anyways, just a PSA if you are considering using this… |
| Why did your doctor prescribe something when you have no symptoms? I guess you learned a lesson about over treatment and the fact that “natural” remedies are not necessary “gentle” … and not to make decisions based on social media. |
The doctor prescribed it / suggested it…I wasn’t out searching for it on my own. |
| My doctor suggested it too and I had no burning. It worked really well. If it's burning, I'd definitely not do it again. Take probiotics and treat the YI with other stuff. |
You don’t need to take everything your dr prescribes and you can always ask questions. If my OB said I had a yeast infection but I had no symptoms I would ask the doctor “why do I need to take any medication? Can’t I wait and see? Can I just take Monistat since that has worked in the past?” |
Actually go to a different doctor to see if there is a different issue going on. |
| We use it to kill ants |
Traditionally, for cockroaches. |
| It's a miracle for me, cured BV after many years |
| I absolutely love it too. But i think it may be too harsh if you’re very dry or otherwise irritwted. For a yeast infection, what happened to good old Monistat and the like? |

OP
Go to another physician either a GYN or a dermatologist You didn’t have a yeast infection you probably have a skin infection and you need something to clear it up. This is very common for women especially if you sweat a lot down there If you had a yeast infections you would have had symptoms get a new doctor yours stinks |

Woah. I’m obsessed with boric acid. I mean over the top obsessed. I think I suffered with BV and yeast infections for 15 years before finding it. Antibiotics never made the itch/burn go away. 2 nights of boric acid did. And whenever I feel it slightly coming back, it cures it in one night. I’ve been free for almost 5 years now, so it’s not in my head. It was entirely due to the boric acid.
Never once had any burning from using it. Still a bit of discomfort the first night but that’s due to the bv/ yeast infection or whatever it is I’m suffering from. I’m so proud your doctor actually brought it up. No doctor ever mentioned it to me. It’s like some hidden miracle. |

I find this extremely disturbing, but not surprised- some doctors just aren’t very good.
I’d find a new one, double check for board certification and ongoing education. I’m sorry you had to go through this. I’d consider filing a complaint. |
| Maybe an allergic reaction or the wrong dose OP? |
|
I have no idea why so many are piling on this doctor. Almost every gyn would do the same. You can get suppositories over the counter same as ministat and it works really well for majority of us.
However, since OP didn’t tolerate it I would obviously discontinue, but it doesn’t mean the doctor was wrong. |
