Girl wash hairs

Do your girls wash hair daily? She has long hair, and I wash her hair once per week. In the summer time, I wash often because of sweats and pool time.

DD is AA and washes/conditions her hair every morning so it lays right for the day when she has it natural.
Once a week isn’t enough imo. Doesn’t matter what kind of hair you have..

We usually wash every other day

Our nine year old with fairly short hair washes her hair two to three times per week.

Twice a week, per dermatologist. She has dry scalp and is prone to excema.

This has changed as they have gotten older. Before puberty they could get away with twice a week. Now that they are teens it’s every other day (or more often) and of course any time they play sports.
When they were young their hair was actually nicer when they washed it less often

It does matter. Curlier hair tends to be dryer so it’s not good to wash it every day. Scalps with skin conditions need to get prescription shampoo with directions. In elementary school most kids don’t have excess oily skin or hair so not every day.

Once a week is not enough for most people, including kids. Gross.

If it looks dirty or smells, wash it. Dont let her be a target at school.

This. Mine has dry hair and never smelled dirty, so she cowashed with conditioner and used shampoo only rarely as needed (more often in the summer, less often in the winter). Now that she’s in puberty, her hair still never looks greasy, but I can smell hair oils after a day. So she washes with shampoo daily now and does a conditioning mask on the ends.

Op here. She has dry and long hair to her waistline. Her hair is not greasy or smelly. I find her hair difficult to wash, comb and manage. Once blow dried after wash, her hair volume is like afro, large volume 2x her face. No matter how much conditioner I put on, they are dry and fuzzy, and tangled sometimes. She is not black and she has straight hair.

Hi! I agree that hair may need to be washed more than once a week. My DD’s long hair was also difficult to manage, as it was prone to knotting. I convinced her to cut it shorter (still long enough to put up) and it has made a big difference. It is easier to wash and manage and generally looks better too! Perhaps a shorter cut may make things easier for your DD too.

Get wide tooth "Afro style" comb and use it on wet hair while conditioner is in it to get tangled to slip free. Then gently rinse. Important to use pony tail in windy weather.
