Japanese Toilet

Anonymous
We just returned from Japan and loved the Toto Japanese toilets that are everywhere. Thoughts on putting one of those in the master bedroom? Would people get it or think it’s weird?

Yes it’s fine. You’ll need a dedicated gfci line to the circuit board. The heater pulls a lot of power.

We have had one for years, why would it be weird?

Toto brand is well known but are you talking about specific features?

We did

So did friends of ours.

Japan was so fabulous.

We have a Japanese toilet with a Japanese seat in our master bath. Of course the Toto brand
Love it!

Lots of people have them, even my contractor does! You need to pull a new GFCI circuit for it as PP said.
We installed one last summer, an entry level model. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0999L5S2F

So you can put the Washlet on top of an existing toilet IF the neck of the toilet (where it meets the tank) is a straight wide one, not a tapered neck. We had a tapered Kohler and it wouldn't fit, so we ended up having to order the Toto toilet as well.

Also you can decide if you want the Washlet+ which means the wires are hidden. But if you do you must buy the Toto toilet b/c it has an extra large hole in the neck to fit the bidet with the hidden wires.

OP here. Interested in where folks bought theirs? Thanks

Checkout BidetKing.

Toto Washlets are very good, but the affordable models have a high back. The low profile model is over 1K.
BidetKing has some other offerings by other manufacturers. Beware, there are LOADS of different features out there and it can be hard to pick but if you wanted a bowl that stays lit up at night for your kids, you'll find one there.
And then there are high pressure spray models that provide the equivalent of an enema cleanse.

We've had the Toto washlet toilet seat for years in our master bathroom and I honestly don't want to live without it now. We got ours on Amazon. As someone mentioned, you do need an outlet near the toilet but otherwise very easy to set up. Just search Toto Washlet C2 Electronic Bidet Toilet Seat.

Enjoy!

How many people will be using the toilet in your master bathroom? Anyone you trust enough to allow in there is probably someone who is close enough to you that they won’t judge you based on your toilet, “weird” or otherwise.

While I haven’t used a Japanese toilet, I wouldn’t consider them weird, just maybe a little bit fancy/luxurious, and it isn’t weird for people to want luxury in their master bathroom. I don’t think a Japanese toilet would be any weirder than a jacuzzi tub, bidet, rainfall shower, heated towel rack, etc.

NO, NO. Do not put it in the master bedroom. You should put it in your master bathroom.

I bought a Brondell on Amazon for $90 and it's awesome. I looked at the Toto bidets, but ruled them out because I don't have an outlet near my toilet and don't really care about warm water. I honestly don't think I've ever seen a bathroom with an outlet right next to the toilet.
