Simple health insurance

Anonymous
Our healthcare system seems so complicated and it’s overwhelming to me. I recently was laid off and want to simplify things, but don’t even know if that’s possible? I’m looking to just buy private insurance on my own with no job not through Obamacare. Does this even exist? Ideally I’d like coverage just for major emergencies like surgery or cancer. I already pay my basic care out of pocket. Does something like this exist?

Obamacare will be cheaper. It's very hard to not be in a group. Even with no subsidy it's not more expensive

Obamacare is the ACA OP
Every state has a website you can buy insurance on

Or you can go directly to Cigna and buy on your own it will be more costly

Stop with the propaganda ACA is the cheapest place for you to find high deductible good ins.

Until next year when Republicans take away Preexisting conditions and other healthcare.

Not like they have a plan to replace the ACA

Notice how I called it the ACA and you called it Obamacare and you tried to spread propaganda shut the hell up fool.

Obamacare or insurance through some religious entities, like the Mennonites are the only options.

Simple insurance was made illegal under the affordable healthcare act.

What? Mine was $1400 a month for one person with no subsidy. In my state subsidies are not available if your gross paycheck per year is over $49,000.

Quit lying. Your policy was not that much and the Feds set the subsidy income limits which are higher than 49k.

Op here. Thank you. I was not aware of that. This puts our current policy discussions in proper context for me. I have never not had employer insurance so didn’t know all the nuances.

To the previous poster who was nasty to me, shame on you. I am aware that Obamacare and ACA are the same thing. At this point it doesn’t matter what I call them everyone knows what I’m talking about. You appear to be pro-ACA which is fine. If it’s great to you then who cares if Obama’s name is attached to it.

Nah, your dog whistle definitely matters. You know that.

Your neighbor is not your enemy pp. Looks like MSNBC think the terms are interchangeable as well. https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/news/thune-msnbc-offered-democrats-vote-obamacare-subsidies-rcna237914

Not “what” you idiot ACA is cheaper currently and yes that means you pay more if your income is higher than the $ 49,000

What the hell do you think it is going to cost given republicans have made the costs go up and have no replacement plan??

Healthcare costs are going up up up because of republicans there is no one else to blame and if you had read project 2025 you would know what is coming!

See again with Obama op . I was right the first time your post was to start a war about Repukes vs Dems about health care.

Ask republicans where the plan to replace the ACA is ??

Your costs are directly proportional to their ie Republicans incompetence in this area.

Eff off you dogwhistle people. I said Obamacare in 17:29 to avoid any confusion for OP. Is the name Obama poison? Credit where credit is due. BTW I supported and prayed for it because we have pre-existing conditions.

Unfortunately, what you are asking for (and a lot of people would like) is not available. I want true insurance for unexpected issues and emergencies. I don't need all the bells and whistles of Obamacare and certainly don't want to pay for them.

Thank you PP. Some people get in their own way. The Obamacare term was started to be a bad thing. It’s now mainstream and the government is shutdown to protect it. Yes, OBAMA passed it. And we are glad. Stop attacking others and start educating.
