| DH turns 50 in Feb. schools seem to have a 4 day weekend around then. I’d line to plan a quick getaway around then to someplace warm. He loves nature and hikes. Kids are 13 and 9. 13 year old will hate missing school beyond 1 day. Any ideas. We’re vegetarians and don’t drink much. So all inclusives are not a huge draw. Kids like everything in moderation. |

Budget?
You always have to post a budget. |
| Key West, FL |
| Grand Cayman, Aruba and other islands with nonstops. Check google flights. |
| St. John or Puerto Rico |
| Yes to non stop quick direct flights from this area. Grand Cayman is fabulous for families and kids and so beautiful and manageable. Go on a dolphin watch; to the turtle farm; rent a car, drive the island, eat outdoors; soak up the tropical breezes and blue water. Turks and Caicos is also a favorite. I think we flew non stop direct flights there too. |
Could not pay me to go to Fl these days. And Key West is alright--no beach really. |
| San Juan, PR . It's always hot there. |
What part of the island do you stay? |
|
Different PP
Grand Cayman, 7 Mile Beach. Aruba too far for such a short trip. |
| Puerto Rico— the Wyndham Rio Mar is out by the rainforest and the biobay but also it’s a nice beach resort |
St John is great, but you do have to fly to St Thomas and then ferry over, which adds a fair bit of travel time/logistics. We did it for a 5 day visit and it was fine, but with only 4 days I'm not sure I would. You could stay on St Thomas and do a day trip to St John. |
| Scottsdale---spring training, sedona, hiking. |
| Go somewhere for Carnaval (not New Orleans). |
OP, pay attention to PP here. Took DD to Key West for long weekend when she was in HS. While I did think about Hemingway's time and Truman using it as his southern WH, I wasn't wowed by the place nor was she, especially as there really isn't a beach. There's a reason why Jimmy Buffett wrote about wasting away in a bar, not on a beach under the stars. |
