How much money will you saved if Virginia is able to pass free lunches for all kids?
We will mostly have all the votes, and the Governor seems to be on board. Let us know how it will help you? |
| A lot! I just loaded $70 combined on both of my kids’ lunch cards! |
| The lines at the high schools are incredibly long now. What's the plan for that? |
| Free lunch would be amazing! |
| My kid never eats the school lunch, so I'll be paying more in taxes to support this foolishness. |
$0. My kids refuse to eat school lunch and having seen it, I do not blame them. |
| Another terrible idea |
| Not thrilled with the menu, so would prefer to send food from home. |
| I'm mixed on this- I don't mind paying more to support kids who need the food, but the food quality is awful! So encouraging people to eat it because it's free? I don't know, seems wasteful. I think I would rather money go to kids who overdraw their accounts, or something? |
kids are not going to start eating school lunch because of it, we did this doing the 2020-2021 SY and 2021-2022 SY. Lines were about the same. |
| My kids eat school lunch- it would save me tons. I would think a better approach would be to raise the salary of those eligible for free and reduced school lunch. As much as I'd love free lunch, given our income, I'm not sure it's right. |

Free breakfast, lunch and dinner for kids is never a bad thing. I'm not interested in personal savings (like most on DCUM) but the macro impacts.
I would love more money invested on better food that kids will eat. I don't know how to accomplish this and an quake at the waste that would surely come out of an initiative and line the pockets of consultants. But on a successful macro scale, more money on this and on our children in general- less money on prisons, crime, health issues. That's how it all should work! too bad people suck |

Free Lunch for all but better food would be ideal. Also, free lunch isnt allergy friendly and 1 in 13 kids have a food allergy. Because most of it is premade or processed, they can't confirm ingredients and there is risk of cross contamination. There are also not Halal or Kosher meals.

If it looked like school lunch in Asia I'd be all for it, but junk food?
No thanks |
| I am 100% in favor and my kids do not attend. Feeding kids is always a good thing. |
