Official communication came out this morning that Metro's rosters are now complete for the upcoming season.
Posting this because it is useable news (for anyone still waiting to hear back); interesting to some; and definitely posting it to irk the person obsessed with hating new Metro posts
|
| Haha. The hardcore posters will look up every player and analyze exactly which club each played for in the past 6-7 years. Someone probably already has a table and they just need to update for this year. |
Don't forget to start a new thread every time there is an injury on a Metro team. People need to know every detail. It is especially important to start a new thread with each opportunity because a single thread focused on Metro would make too much sense. |
And they can getting unreasonably annoyed when Metro highlights a player as having committed to play in college if they ever played volleyball in a jersey other than one that says Metro.

Just to make sure we're learning all we need to know, once people here look up each player, then they should research the parents, so we can figure out the right parental choices for raising Metro players! Ok joking aside, I'm a former Metro parent who didn't do the major data dives and doesn't need to know about injuries (as another PP said), but I do find this info useful so I've got no problem with these kinds of posts. Nor do I have any problem with new Paramount posts, or MVSA or any other teams. Sometimes to ask the specific question you have, you need to start a new thread. Not make people open a thread with 8 pages to see what the most recent comment is. And that goes for any team. |
| That's me ^^ Meant to say I find the "Rosters are final" info useful. Not the injuries or anything else super micro-detailed. |
+1 This and every new post with a very specific subject line is what makes me look at them. If someone posted this under the several page long “Tryouts Info” thread, it isn’t going to have that wide a reach. |
| So what’s the overall summary? Winners and losers from other clubs that moved to metro national? |
Big winners: Paramount and Metro. These two clubs are monopolizing volleyball in the CHRVA Region. Both of Metro and Paramount's 15s and 16s teams should finish in some combination of 1st-4th at Regionals. From looking at rosters online, Paramount also formed two very strong 13s and 14s teams. These two clubs forming multiple teams in an age group has completely decimated some of the other clubs that have historically fielded decent teams. Paramount had already been decimating other Northern VA area clubs, and Metro's National teams appear to have decimated whatever talent was left at MDJRS (which wasn't much talent anyways, since the best talent from MDJRS had already gone to Paramount or Metro over the years). It is clear that Metro really targeted MDJRS players to fill their National teams and to try to make them competitive as quickly as possible. |

Oh man, I feel for the Metro teams that compete at MdJrs this coming season. Been a Metro parent for 4 years and MDJrs owner & longtime tournament staff already detest Metro, plus they often arrange the pools to benefit MDJrs teams and disadvantage Metro (I.e. in a regional tournament, having Metro 2s play against another club’s travel/1s team, while MDJrs teams somehow only play any 1s in final stages of tournament, if at all.
If Metro creating the National team further drained from MDJrs, who knows what shenanigans Metro teams will face this spring. |
4 years Metro parent and don't know that for USAV/CHRVA sanctioned games, pool/brackets managed by CHRVA, not the hosting club/facility owner? |
MDJRS 14 was the big mover, but even before Metro National was announced there was discussion that team was going to split despite being top of the region last year. Not sure Metro even needed to target them to make that happen. On the MD side outside of MD JRS, there doesn't seem to be nearly as much movement as was projected. We'll need to see rosters to be sure though. |
MDJrs absolutely chooses the pools and schedule. The initial pools, then obviously the results of round 1 determine rounds 2 and beyond. MDJrs chooses because we've had a lot of questions about why things were as they were and they explained why "they" did it that way, and it's the MDJrs Directors/Managers (no idea what their official titles are). |
I can't believe a Metro parent is actually complaining about how the pools are structured at a local CHRVA tournament.... It shouldn't matter to a club like Metro or Paramount, as they should win regardless of how the pools are stacked. |
My assumption was that parent is of a player on a Metro regional team. Agree seeding in a CHRVA tournament should not matter for a Metro Travel or Paramount 1s team. |
