| I got more anxious if a coworker talks really fast with me, almost like it's revving up my insides. How do I cope with this? |
Just replay what they said back to yourself in your head, at a speed you're comfortable hearing it. Also, email them.
|
| This is how I feel, that everyone else drinks coffee and operates in a higher gear. It stresses me out. I don't know the solution except for getting them to stop drinking coffee. |
What?? Drinking coffee ? |
Talk to HR about this. Claim to have a severe allergy. |
| They probably have ADHD. Its ok to ask them to slow down or take a breathe. |
|
Listen faster. Catch up.
There are brain exercises you can do but unfortunately you're not going to get smarter. |
| My young coworker speaks fast, and it speeds up during meetings. I assume he has anxiety. I was trying to think of a gentle way to tell him to slow down but decided to just leave it alone. |
Don’t you dare. |
Maybe find a dumber group of coworkers. |
Say "aayyoooo sloooow down dude/dudet! No need to go all motormouth on me! Lay it on me nice and slow, like a lazy Georgia afternoon." |
| Move South - people speak more slowly the further South you go |
Too.....hot.....to....be.............talking..........fast. |
This. I'm from NY and we talk fast. Cannot stand slow talkers - just spit it out |
|
Try to take a deep breath ➕ keep this in mind:
It is highly unlikely that the other person is actually talking too fast. In reality - you probably are just listening too slow. |
