Winter wedding guest dress - impress boyfriend and FU to ex

I have a wedding to go to at the height of winter. The ceremony is in a beautiful old church and the reception is at a swanky city place with dinner and a fun dancing crowd. I'll be attending with my boyfriend and my cheating ex husband will also be there. I'm late 30s, 5'6in, size 8, hourglass shape.
Any recs on dresses or where to look? I haven't been to a wedding in ages. Ideally budget under $250. |

I gotta warn you — any dress you wear that’s blatantly “look what you missed out on” is going to look too inappropriate for a church wedding and too try-hard for the reception. And it’s going to completely contradict your intended purpose of showing XH that you don’t think about him any more.
Whatever you get, get it scrupulously tailored. If it’s at all tight or plunge-y or short, think twice. Or at least wear a jacket or shawl in the church. |

Agree with PP don’t go too slutty. That will just be obvious. You’re better off making sure hair and makeup is on point and wearing something fashionable but appropriate.
Agree look at Bloomingdale’s, specifically Ted Baker section. The girl there helped me in a time crunch for a wedding a few weeks ago and they had a lot of chic stuff |

also the best way to stick it with your ex is to confidently be there, have a good time and ignore him. it doesn’t hurt that you’ll be there with a new guy

this would look great on an hourglass figure, and is sexy but sophisticated/appropriate. wear a wrap or short “fluffy” jacket at the church. |

| I did this once. I made an appointment with the stylists in various dept stores, told them the exact scenario and what I was trying to accomplish, and had them bring a selection of dresses that they thought would do the trick. One of the stylists was so into it she found not only the best dress, but also the best accessories to go with it. Was worth it. |
