Scrunch butt leggins and shorts

Many of the women at my gym wear scrunch butt leggins or shorts. Even the older women. Is this a new trend? I haven't seen it as much at my yoga studio though. I think this style really only looks attractive if your derriere is in top top shape. I'm still baffled by the style though.

It's supposed to make your butt look better. Thought this trend was over but I really don't pay attention to other women's butts so I might not notice.

I asked about these once on this board. But I’ve seen them once in real life. People who wear them want everyone to stare at their butt. It’s hard to turn away and I’m a straight woman.
