FCPS Tryouts

Do your players know which team they're expected to make?
All of DDs friends seem confident in the team they're anticipating making. DD has no clue and hasn't received any feedback. Is this her fault for not asking or do coaches just inform the better players prior to tryouts?

On the boys side, coaches know the varsity (almost certainly), JV (mostly), and even freshman team (starters) rosters before tryouts. There was a varsity parent meeting for DS’s team the first week of school.

Girls is usually less determined, but if the team has had Green Day’s/open gyms, many kids will have a good idea where they stack up.

For an FCPS public? This is brazen. The coaches are supposed to pretend like tryouts are actually tryouts.

Girls teams are not competitive at all and even JV is no-cut at most of the large publics.

The Varsity boys have been acting as a team since the start of school. I am pretty sure tryouts aren't a thing for them.

But to answer the question, most coaches will give kids a nod on to what team they will end up on.

The F team is for F . JV cuts at our school. Varsity cuts. Even F level will have cuts. Basketball gets lots of interest.

When will we know the tryout schedule? Its not posted online anywhere and the coach hasn't sent it out.

Probably this week, although I think the coaches already had the lineup in mind month ago.

Cuts start today at most schools. All 3 teams will be set by Friday at each school most likely.
