My question: has anyone ever had the treatment botched in such a way that resulted in permanent skin damage or scarring? Or is the technology pretty foolproof at this point?
Background: I've had excellent experience with laser hair removal on my legs, face and armpits over the past decade, in part because I tried to choose excellent providers with a lot of experience. Now I need another booster round on my face, and I could either get it done for $1500 by a doctor (which I can't really afford) or $500 by a relatively inexperienced nurse practitioner at a dermatologists office. I'm just worried I might regret going with the cheaper option. |

I'd go the $1500 route for my face Good luck. |
| I've never had a bad experience and I've done all medspas. Is there a third option? Can you go to a med spa that is affiliated with a derm and get it done? You won't get anyone inexperienced because they do it a lot, all day to all different people including each other...! |
The cheap place is a NP at a dermatologist but she's new.
|
| On my face, I'd pay the $1500 for the experienced dermatologist. |
| Laser hair removal doesn't work well on the face. Mine was a complete waste of money. Go with electrolysis for that part of the body. The hair follicles are different. |
| NP I’ve tried to find someone who does electrolysis but it seems to be a dying art- any recs in Bethesda or NWDC? |
This is OP. i've actually done facial laser with tremendous success in the past. Same success as other body parts. I just have a few errant hairs I need to deal with. |
| facial laser scarring at a dermatologist, buyer beware |
| Yeah I had someone at a dermatology office cause blistering/ scarring on my face. They probably used IPL which isn't the best for laser hair removal. |
Linda Hardiman at Moxee Salon at 24th & Penn. She does electrolysis, waxing, facials, eybrow and lash tinting, other skin treatments. |
| Just buy a Braun and do it yourself. |
